Can craft activities relieve stress”…… Oh yess!
DIY- Do it yourself, whenever we hear of this word, feels like a lot of work, Afterall its Do it yourself. But do you know why it is important for each one of us to try doing or making some crafts on our own? Most of you stuck in a hectic job schedule might consider it a complete waste of time, yeah because weekends are for chilling, hanging out with friends, and relaxing.
Ever
considered indulging in any sort of DIY craftwork on a lazy Sunday. Trust me it’s
too much fun, you might wonder how but even psychology says that such
activities help individuals overcome stress and acts as very good stress
busters which sometimes hanging out with friends might not give us.
It is often
heard from artists that the creation of their art is a wonderful stress
reliever. Now you don’t have to be artistically inclined to benefit from such
creation. Studies show that it is not the quality of the creation that comes out
rather more about how you feel afterward and the effects are highly
positive. So, if you want to find a great way of relieving some stress, then
you may dwell on an activity, and here are some ideas for you to get going.
Exercise in
mindfulness
Such
activities could include art therapy, painting, making something- rather than trying
to make something out of waste for a non-art freak. Studies also show that
coloring mandalas for just about 20 minutes could be really helpful and you
don’t have to be a serious or gifted artist for this activity.
Create
something beautiful from scratch
The research
on gratifications shows that there are many ways to engage in artistic
activities to soothe your frazzled nerves or feel yourself and express
yourself. But what to do if you suck at even drawing stick figures, well the
answer is just get up and start doing it because you’ll end up making something
good eventually. Studies also show that the aroma of charcoal pencils, oil
pastels, and crafts stuff itself evaluate the anxiety levels and lightens up the mood, so you see you didn’t have to do much rather just create an artistic
ambiance around you and see the wonders.
Color a Mandala
Now this sounds a lot of work but waits you have several coloring books if you haven’t
noticed them, you simply have to choose your colors and get going just like
when you did when you were a kid but yes, this time it’s has to be a little
less shabby. So, if you feel that your artistic levels are minus then this one
is for you as it requires less decision-making.
If it all fails then DOODLE!!!
if you don’t
have time for the above-mentioned activities than time to embrace your inner
doodle. While there is a lot of research going on the stress-relieving effects
of random doodles, you can do one and see if it works in your case or not.
SO GET UP AND
DOODLE IT UP……………………………………
